Newport Harbor Cruise on Rum Runner II

July 23, 2016 @ 11:30 am - 3:30 pm

$30

Only one spot left on this trip!

Unfortunately I was unable to make a group reservation for the Thimble Island cruise so in its place we will spend the day with the rich and famous in Newport Rhode Island.  We will start the day with a 75 minute cruise around Newport Harbor aboard the Rum Runner II.

This boat was commissioned in 1929 by a couple of New Jersey mobsters during the prohibition era. She was designed to haul illegal booze and be fast in order to elude the Coast Guard. The cruise includes complimentary mimosas and croissants. The coast for the cruise is $30.00 per person, and as I have made the reservation on my credit card payment must be sent to me in advance. For additional information on the cruise check out their website at www.cruisenewport.com .
Upon arriving in Newport we will park our Miatas at the visitor center and purchase an all-day bus pass for $6.00  per person which lowers our parking charge to just $2.00 and will give us the availability to travel around Newport without worrying on finding a safe place to park.

After the cruise lunch will be just a short walk away at The Landing Restaurant.

We will be able to order off the menu and have separate checks. If you want to view the menu in advance please check it out at www.thelandingrestaurantnewport.com .

After lunch we will hop on the bus to ride to our next stop The Audrain Auto Museum (www.audrainautomuseum.org ). While the collection on view is not large, maybe 25 cars but the restoration work is beautiful as is the building that houses the collection. During our visit the exhibit is entitled Fantastic Classics 1945 -1965.
Cost of admission is $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for seniors (which I hate to admit I am now one of).

If an auto museum is not your thing feel free to stay on the bus as at will make stops at the mansions and cliff walk. Afterwards we will meet downtown for what else but Ice Cream.

For those interested we will then take a drive along Newport’s famous Ocean Drive

with a stop at Breton Point State Park to enjoy the ocean views. From there we will say our goodbyes and head on our separate ways home.

Our meeting spot for this trip will be the Walmart in Raynham (36 Paramount Dr). The drivers meeting will be at 8:45 with hope of being on the road by 9:00.

Please remember to be TFBE (Tanks full, Bladder empty) as there will not be any stops on the way down to Newport. The drive should be no more than an hour and a half and there are facilities at the Visitor center where we will be parking.

If you plan on meeting us in Newport rather than Raynham please let me know.

I was only able at this time to make reservations for 25 people for the cruise so let me know ASAP if you want to join us for the day. I will need your name, number in your party, and a contact phone number. Please send a check for $30.00 per person to lock in your reservation to:
