February 27th, 2005
It was a cold Sunday morning in February with a bright winter sun shinning.
Club members began arriving around noon for lunch at Legal Seafood in the North Shore Mall, Peabody.
Interestingly enough though, when my wife and I arrived there were plenty of cars parked in front of Legal Seafood but no Miata’s. Then it dawned on me that because it was winter and the roads were full of sand and salt other members did what we did and disguised our Miata to look like an SUV or full size passenger car! This strange phenomenon seems to occur selectively during the dead of winter.
Lunch at Legal was terrific. The club had its own private function room set off from the main restaurant. Everyone sat together, ate lunch and shared stories and pictures from past club events particularly the Holiday Party this past January in Portland, ME.
Multiple pictures of many of us at dinner wearing the blonde WIG were passed around. These pictures were hilarious but the problem is they may never go away!
After lunch, it was off to the Cabot Street Theatre in Beverly for an afternoon of Magic and Illusion presented by Le Grande David.
This was a first class magic show with stunts, tricks and illusions at the same level as many Las Vegas shows that my wife and I have seen. These folks were good, the stage sets and costumes were great.
The Cabot Street Theatre is truly a place to be enjoyed by everyone. If you’re looking for something to do with your children or grandchildren, I would recommend this place highly.
Looking forward to better weather, tops down and seeing all of you!
Many thanks to Jim Gillis for planning a great event.
