This year’s MMC Holiday Party will be held at:

HILTON MYSTIC HOTEL

20 Coogan Blvd. Mystic, CT 06355

QUIET ENJOYMENT-THE HOTEL OBSERVES QUIET HOURS BETWEEN 10:00 P.M. TO 8:00 A.M. IF ANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER GUESTS, YOU WILL BE GIVEN ONE VERBAL WARNING, AFTER THAT THE GUESTS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE HOTEL.

The hotel has two very nice common seating areas, one indoors and the other one is outdoors in the elements but with fireplaces.

Breakfast is not included, but there is a nice restaurant on site. You could also go to one of several local breakfast choices including the Mystic Diner, just  a few minutes walk from the hotel, if you do not want to eat in the hotel restaurant.

Restaurant on site for breakfast. Saturday & Sunday breakfast 7:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M.

Hotel rooms have a coffee maker, fridge and microwave in each room.  Each room has a tub/shower unit with a safety bar.

Hotel has a pool, free parking and a restaurant on site for breakfast or dinner.

Check in at 4:00 P.M. and check out is at 11:00 A.M.

Handicap rooms are available. You will need to call the hotel at (203) 572-0731 to book a room.

THE HOLIDAY PARTY WILL BE ON SATURDAY JANUARY 20, 2024. THE PARTY WILL BE A TRIBUTE TO LILLIAN ORCHARD FOR THE  MANY, MANY YEARS SHE ORGANIZED THE MMC HOLIDAY PARTIES.

COME DRESSED UP IN YOUR SUN HATS, FLIP FLOPS, SUNGLASSES, SHORTS AND YOUR FAVORITE COLORFUL BEACH ATTIRE. You do not have to go outside to get to the ballroom. The hotel is heated so you will not be cold.

Saturday MMC Holiday Party:

Meet in the Cutter Ballroom at 5:30 P.M. for our Yankee swap and cocktails. Cash bar for drinks.

Unfortunately hotel policy prohibits food and beverages from outside in the ballroom, so we will not be allowed to bring snacks or our own drinks.

Cash bar is available in the restaurant bar just outside the Cutter Ballroom. There will not be a bar tender in the cutter ballroom.

Dinner will be buffet style and served from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. We have the ballroom until 10:00 P.M. so hang around to drink, and socialize with your Miata family.

Buffet will be:

Garlic bread and bread sticks

Caesar Salad: Romaine, Parmesan Cheese, Croutons

Antipasto with Italian Cured Meats, Cheeses.

Pickled Vegetables.

Vine Ripe Tomatoes and Flore De Latte Mozzarella, Fresh Basil, Tuscan Olive Oil.

Chicken Saltinbocca.

Roasted Haddock Puttanesca.

Orzo with Asparagus, Tomatoes, Mushrooms Grilled Lemon..

Roasted Garlic Lemon Broccolini.

Dessert: Tiramisu, Biscotti, and Chocolate Torte

Meal cost is $50.00 per person which includes tax and fees and payment is due to me before January 1st, 2024

SATURDAY: YOU COULD VISIT THE AQUARIUM, VISIT THE MYSTIC VILLAGE THAT HAS A LOT OF SHOPS WHERE YOU CAN SPEND YOUR MONEY, OR JUST WALK AROUND FOR THE EXERCISE, DRIVE TO A WINERY, GO TO MYSTIC SEAPORT, VISIT USS NAUTILUS, GO ON SOME SHORT SCENIC DRIVES (BLUFF POINT STATE PARK 55 DEPOT ROAD GROTON- FREE PARKING, NICE HIKE OR WALK ALONG THE RIVER TO OCEAN VIEWS, FOXWOODS CASINO, ETC.

YANKEE SWAP:

THIS YEAR WE WILL HAVE THE TRADITIONAL YANKEE SWAP AS LILLIAN ALWAYS DID.   SARAH BATES HAS VOLUNTEERED TO RUN THE YANKEE SWAP (THANK YOU)

Yankee Swap Details:

To participate bring a wrapped gift in the $20.00 to $25.00 range per person.

No candles, no gag gifts.

Bring an item you would like to receive (I.e. not the trailer toilet seat, flashing man, blunderbuss, etc.)

Participation is voluntary – it’s fun to watch even if you’re not participating, however the more the merrier! Gifts and participation can be per person or per couple. Just remember that to select a gift you must bring one. Most couples opt to have each person bring a gift so each can participate. Here’s how our Yankee Swap at the holiday party will work:

1. Each person or couple that brought a wrapped present gets to draw a number.
2. The person with #1 selects and then opens a present.
3. The person with the next highest number (2 in this case) chooses and opens a present. They then decide whether they want to keep the present they just opened or swap it for any other opened present.
4. Lather, rinse, repeat step 3 until all numbers have been used and all presents have been opened.
5. Finally, the person who drew #1 gets to swap the present they are holding for any other present.
After this, consenting adults are free to swap their present with anyone else.

Some Yankee Swap etiquette “rules”:

• people choosing their present are not allowed to fold, spindle, mutilate, or otherwise fondle the presents before choosing one.
• participants cannot hide their opened presents they want to keep.  (to prevent others from swapping with them)
