SUMMARY:May 3\, 2026 Sunday Drive to the Movies
DESCRIPTION:Wilton Town Hall 2026 \nMay 3\, 2026 Sunday Drive to the Movies. \nPlease join us for a journey into cinema history to the Wilton Town Hall Theatre in Wilton NH. \nWe will meet at the Dunks in Lancaster MA\, and follow a twisty back roads route to The Kettle for lunch. \nThe Kettle is a reasonably priced ($20-30) restaurant with an excellent eclectic menu. \nAfter lunch\, we will walk across the street to the Theatre. \n \nThe Theatre opened in 1885 as a vaudeville venue. In 1912\, the theatre exhibited its first silent \nfilm\, and by the 1920s was in regular use as a cinema. The Theatre continues in operation to \nthis day\, running a program of independent and classic films. The cinema prides itself on its \nextra bright projector\, comfortable seating\, and freshly popped popcorn with real butter. \n  \nThis Sunday the Theatre is screening the 1928 silent comedy “Steamboat Bill\, Jr”. Bill Junior \n(Buster Keaton) is the foppish Bostonian son of tough-as-nails Mississippi paddleboat captain \nSteamboat Bill (Ernest Torrence). His budding romance with Kitty (Marion Byron) is quickly \nthwarted by her father\, a wealthy rival riverboat owner (Tom McGuire). Bill Junior might be a \nmassive disappointment to his father on a normal day\, but when a literal cyclone hits\, this \nwalking disaster just might be the only one who can save the day. \n  \nLive accompaniment to the film will be provided by traveling silent film composer / organist Jeff Rapsis. \nDestination: Wilton Town Hall Theatre\nStart: Dunkin’ Donuts Lancaster \nWhen: Sunday May 3 2026 \nTime: Marshall at 10:45 for a 11:00 departure \nTrip: 41 miles / 80 minutes\nLunch: The Kettle ~12:30 \nRoute: Google / GPX / TomTom\nFilm: 2:00-3:15 \n  \nTo sign up\, please fill out this form. \nTRIP LIMITED TO 12 CARS. \n\n\n\n“By signing up for this trip\, you agree to comply with the Club By-Laws and policies that include personal health safety and safe driving.” \n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://massmiata.net/club-bylaws/
