SUMMARY:October 4\, 2025 Saturday Foliage Trip
DESCRIPTION:Foliage Trip 2025\nOctober 4\, 2025\nHad 13 Miata’s\, 3 Lotus\, 27 people\nPlease join us for a scenic foliage drive culminating at the peak of Mount Kearsarge in Warner\, New Hampshire.\nTrip is limited to 16 cars. To sign up\, please fill out this form.\n \nWe will meet at the Walmart in Lunenburg MA at 8:00 A.M. for an 8:30 A.M. departure. From there we will take an extended drive northwards towards New Hampshire\, through twisty country back roads. After a rest stop at the Shaws in Hillsborough NH\, we WILL drive onwards to Warner NH for lunch / brunch. \n  \nThere are multiple restaurants within easy walking distance on Warner’s charming Main Street. You are encouraged to form into groups and go to whichever one you wish. The choices are Cafe One East (coffee/pastries/light sandwiches)\, The Local (sandwiches/burgers/salads)\, Reed’s North (sandwiches/comfort food)\, and Charlie Mac’s (pizza/calzones). \nAfter lunch\, we will regroup and drive up the nearby mountain access road to the peak of Mount Kearsarge\, and park at the paved lot for photos. Please note that Mount Kearsarge will be very busy on the weekend; it is important that you book a Day Pass to Rollins State Park for October 4th in advance – see here. The cost is $5.\nThose willing and able will make the hike to the summit. From the summit\, one can see Boston 80 miles away on a clear day. The hike is about 0.5 miles each way and 340 feet vertical\, including clambering over some rocks. This requires a moderate amount of fitness\, and will take about an hour round trip\, including some time to appreciate the spectacular views from the top. A walking stick and appropriate walking shoes / clothing are advised. If the weather is poor\, there will be no hike. \n \nThose who prefer NOT to make the hike to the summit are encouraged to return to Warner to visit the nearby Telephone Museum – a small but fascinating collection that houses a tangible history of telecommunications. \nHikers will drive down to meet the Telephoners at the Museum for the final leg of the trip – a short drive to the famous Richardson’s Farm in Boscawen for the best ice cream in New Hampshire\, where our adventure concludes. \n  \nDate: Saturday October 4th 2025 \nStart: Walmart Lunenburg MA 8:00 A.M. for a 8:30 A.M. departure\nFuel: Mobil (0.8 miles from Start)\nCoffee: Smokestack Roasters (1.0 miles from Start) \nPit Stop: Shaws Hillsborough ~10:15 A.M.\nBrunch / Lunch: ~11:30 A.M. (multiple choices)\nDestination: Rollins State Park ~1:00 P.M.\nIce Cream: Richardson’s Farm ~2:30 P.M.\nFinish: ~3:00 P.M.\nDrive to lunch: Google / GPX / TomTom (88 miles / 143 minutes)\nDrive after lunch: Google / GPX / TomTom (29 miles / 58 minutes)\nHike(optional): 1.0 miles / 60 minutes total\n  \nPlease note\, for the return journey\, the direct route from Richardson’s Farm to I-495 in MA is an additional 54 miles / 57 minutes.\nWe are reserving 4 spots for any Lotus drivers who missed the earlier Lotus/Miata Run in May.\nWhen you fill out the form\, be sure to write down the organizers name and cell number just in case you need to get in touch with him.

SUMMARY:October 11\, 2025 Saturday Hancock Shaker Village Trip
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: \nWe still have room for a few more cars on this ride – the weather is predicted to be the best of the entire holiday weekend\, colors enroute are starting to pop\, the road conditions look great and this ride should be very fun. Due to its length people can opt to just take a food/rest stop break at the village (admission not required for that) and then proceed home without the rest of the group via a simple route back to the starting point via the Mass Pike (GPX and written instructions will be provided for all components of the ride). \n\n\n\nOctober 11\, 2025 Hancock Shaker Village Trip \nTo sign up: contact Allen Chin – TTLNow2@gmail.com\n\n\nJoin us for a scenic cross-state adventure (117 miles) from Sturbridge to the historic Hancock Shaker Village in Hancock\, Mass. This picturesque drive will wind through hilly\, curvy Miata-perfect roads at the height of New England’s fall color season. \nWe’ll take a rest stop about 75 minutes into our 3-hour journey before arriving at this award-winning living museum — recognized by Yankee Magazine as the Editor’s Choice for Best Historical Experience. Once there\, you’ll have several hours to explore the working farm\, watch Shaker craftsmen in action\, and enjoy the many exhibits.\n\n\n\n\nOnsite refreshments are available at the village’s restaurant and ice cream shop\, perfect for a relaxing break before we head back. Our return route (87 mile) will take us through Lenox and back to Sturbridge via the Massachusetts Turnpike. For those preferring a more leisurely drive\, alternate guidance will be provided for a non-highway return via Route 2\n\n\nTrip Details: \n·      Limited to 7 cars\, 2 additional spots will be held for new members \n·      Meet at Walmart\, 100 Charlton Rd\, Sturbridge\, MA \n·      9 AM sharp – Driver’s meeting \n·      9:15 AM – Departure \n·      10:35 AM – Rest Stop at Dunkin’ Sunderland MA \n·      12:30 PM – Arrive at Shaker Village \n·      3:30 PM – Depart Shaker Village \n·      5:00 PM – Arrive Walmart\, Sturbridge MA \nMuseum Admission: \n·      Adults $20\, Seniors\, AAA\, MTA\, active/retired US Military $18\, NARM $0 \nMuseum Background: \nHancock Shaker Village is a living history museum\, in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts\, at the NY border. Hancock Shaker Village brings the Shaker story to life and preserves it for future generations. \n \n\n\n\n\nHancock Shaker Village began in the late 1780s\, when nearly 100 Believers consolidated a community on land donated by local farmers who had converted to the Shaker movement. By the 1830s\, with a great many more conversions and additional land acquisitions\, the Shaker community peaked in population with more than 300 Believers and more than 3\,000 acres \nThe utopian village known as Hancock Shaker Village continues its life today as a history museum with 20 authentic buildings\, a working farm and significant collections of Shaker furniture and artifacts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“By signing up for this trip\, you agree to comply with the Club By-Laws and policies that include personal health safety and safe driving.” \n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://massmiata.net/club-bylaws/
