BEWARE though\, this is a tiny venue and very slow service as they have a tiny kitchen. \n \nDriver’s meeting: 11:30 AM \nWhere: South Shore Plaza parking lot in Braintree on the Lord & Taylor side. \n\n\n\n\nBring: \n\nPicnic Lunch\n\nCash for $5.00 tasting at Blue Hill Brewery and\nCash for $5.00 tasting at Bog Iron Brewery.\nThe first tasting at Blue Hill charges $5.00 pp for eight 2-3 oz samples of your choice.\nThe second tasting at Bog Iron charges $5.00 for a flight consisting of 4 – 4 oz pours of your choice.\nMore cash if having wings at Wendell’s.\nFor anyone that wishes to stay and enjoy a very leisurely\, unrushed dinner – we will be heading across the street to Wendell’s Wings. They are very small and have only one fryolator so on a busy day it is easily a one hour wait once you order your wings. They are WORTH the wait! These are judged by the Phantom Gourmet as the “best buffalo wings” in Massachusetts. This is where you will need cash as Wendell’s does not accept credit cards. They are a cash only establishment.  They do not accept checks or cards. Although there is an ATM in the pub.\n\nRSVP by July 30\, 2016 to pat.tarantino@comcast.net or via cell (508) 989-6764\n\n

SUMMARY:Central Vermont Trip
DESCRIPTION:THE TRIP IS NOW FULL.\nContact Lillian to be put on the waiting list. \nExploring the River Valley of Central Vermont\n \nCentral Vermont is an area known for its small farming and agricultural communities\, its green rolling hills\, awesome ski areas\, covered bridges\, maple syrup\, breweries and dairy farms. \nThe plan for this trip is to travel up backroads Friday with a stop at the Vermont Country Store \n \nand lunch at one of the clubs favorite luncheon places\, The Long Trail Pub\, located on the Ottauquechee River in Bridgewater Corners\, Vermont. From there we will travel backroads up the Waterbury\, Vt. to our lodging for the weekend. \nThe Best Western Plus Waterbury-Stowe\, 45 Blush Hill Rd.\, Waterbury\, VT. \n \n\n\n\n\nJust down the road from Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream factory! \nThere is a 15 room block for Friday\, July 29th\, thru Sunday July 31st\, 2016 with a departure date of Monday\,\nAugust 1st\, 2016. This trip has a three night booking requirement. There are 10 non-smoking rooms with two-double beds at a rate of $135.00 per night and 5 non-smoking rooms with one king bed at the rate of $140.00 per night. Rates are based on single or double occupancy and are subject to a 9% VT rooms and meal tax. \nTo make a reservation you must call the hotel directly at 802-244-7822 or 1-800-621-7822 and book under theMass Miata Club Room Block. You will need a valid credit card to secure your reservation. You have until June 13\,2016 to book your reservation or until all the blocked rooms are booked. Once all 15 blocked rooms are reserved there will be a wait list set up in case of cancellations. \nOur first day will be exploring\, the Mad River Valley; \n \nan area that is a club favorite. This river valley is a gently-sloped stretch of fertile land lying along both sides of the river between Moretown and Waitsfield Villages. The heart of the district is the Mad River\, which snakes through the length of the valley\, and is paralleled by Vermont Routes 100 and 100B. The landscape and buildings of the district still retain the character of a rural farming community\, reflecting over two centuries of cultivation of the flat farmland along the river\, contrasting with the heavily wooded hills bordering the valley. \nThe second day we will be exploring the White River Valley with its multiple branches through traditional Vermont scenic rolling farm land. This area has the highest concentration of Covered Bridges in the State. \n \nIt is an area that still maintains a look of Vermont of yesteryear. \nOur group meal will be a buffet Sunday night back at the hotel. \nOnce you have made your room reservation\, please e mail me at mslillyO@outlook.com or call and leave a message at my home telephone 781-762-2145 to let me know you are coming.

SUMMARY:Newport Harbor Cruise on Rum Runner II
DESCRIPTION:Only one spot left on this trip!\nUnfortunately I was unable to make a group reservation for the Thimble Island cruise so in its place we will spend the day with the rich and famous in Newport Rhode Island.  We will start the day with a 75 minute cruise around Newport Harbor aboard the Rum Runner II. \n\n\n\n\nThis boat was commissioned in 1929 by a couple of New Jersey mobsters during the prohibition era. She was designed to haul illegal booze and be fast in order to elude the Coast Guard. The cruise includes complimentary mimosas and croissants. The coast for the cruise is $30.00 per person\, and as I have made the reservation on my credit card payment must be sent to me in advance. For additional information on the cruise check out their website at www.cruisenewport.com .\nUpon arriving in Newport we will park our Miatas at the visitor center and purchase an all-day bus pass for $6.00  per person which lowers our parking charge to just $2.00 and will give us the availability to travel around Newport without worrying on finding a safe place to park.\n\n\n\nAfter the cruise lunch will be just a short walk away at The Landing Restaurant. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will be able to order off the menu and have separate checks. If you want to view the menu in advance please check it out at www.thelandingrestaurantnewport.com . \n\n\n\nAfter lunch we will hop on the bus to ride to our next stop The Audrain Auto Museum (www.audrainautomuseum.org ). While the collection on view is not large\, maybe 25 cars but the restoration work is beautiful as is the building that houses the collection. During our visit the exhibit is entitled Fantastic Classics 1945 -1965.\nCost of admission is $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for seniors (which I hate to admit I am now one of).\n\n\n\n\nIf an auto museum is not your thing feel free to stay on the bus as at will make stops at the mansions and cliff walk. Afterwards we will meet downtown for what else but Ice Cream. \nFor those interested we will then take a drive along Newport’s famous Ocean Drive \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwith a stop at Breton Point State Park to enjoy the ocean views. From there we will say our goodbyes and head on our separate ways home. \nOur meeting spot for this trip will be the Walmart in Raynham (36 Paramount Dr). The drivers meeting will be at 8:45 with hope of being on the road by 9:00. \nPlease remember to be TFBE (Tanks full\, Bladder empty) as there will not be any stops on the way down to Newport. The drive should be no more than an hour and a half and there are facilities at the Visitor center where we will be parking. \nIf you plan on meeting us in Newport rather than Raynham please let me know. \nI was only able at this time to make reservations for 25 people for the cruise so let me know ASAP if you want to join us for the day. I will need your name\, number in your party\, and a contact phone number. Please send a check for $30.00 per person to lock in your reservation to: \nLes Barton\n144 Hart St Unit 43\nTaunton\, MA 02780

SUMMARY:Middlesex Concert Band
DESCRIPTION:For the last few years\, a small group of MMC’ers has attended these Concerts. They have been a great success and enjoyed by all. The group met for a meal either before or after the concert. The band is quite accommodating about seating for the group\, although we have not yet been able to work out a system to reserve any seating. Depending upon response from you folks\, the issue will be brought forward for further discussion with the band. \nThe weather In March is much less likely to be a problem\, the days will be getting longer so that the concert followed by dinner might accommodate more people. On past concerts we have used Not Your Average Joe’s in Burlington. \nMarch might seem to be light years away\, but the sooner we have some indication about who might attend the better the chance to make a seating arrangement that suits the groups. \nTickets in advance are $18 adults\, $15 seniors.\nContact Ed Jutras at Activities@MassMiata.net \nFor more details\, click this link\nMiddlesex Band SONGS OF THE SILVER SCREEN \n \n

SUMMARY:Mid-Winter Get Together
DESCRIPTION:The Winter Blues getting you down? Miss your Miata buddies? Well\, if you are like me that’s a big YES to both questions. So let’s plan on getting together for a movie and something to eat at Patriot Place in Foxborough\, MA. \n \nMichael Edwards grew up in Great Britain dreaming of competing in the Olympics. Though he was a decent downhill skier he was not good enough to qualify for the Olympic team. So he looked around for another sport where he would have a better chance of qualifying. He soon discovered that Great Britain never had anyone compete on an Olympic level in ski jumping. So with no coach or financial backing he was determined to become the first. His dream came true and he was able to compete in the 1988 Olympics in Calgary\, Canada. He soon became a media sensation with his unconventional style and spectacular crashes. He became known as “Eddie the Eagle”\, and the movie we will be seeing is his story. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FWAiXll_jw \nLooks like it should be a fun movie. \n \n\n\nAfter the movie we will stroll through Patriot Place down to the Saga Hibachi Steakhouse for an early dinner.http://www.patriot-place.com/sagasteakhouse \n \nThis is one of those Hibachi restaurants which is a kind of show and meal all in one. We went here back in the winter of 2014 and everyone had a great time. Hopefully this year we will not have a blizzard start as we were eating dinner. \nThe times for this movie has not been posted yet\, but plan on a starting time around 12:15\, and dinner around 4:00. If you would like to join us for this little get together please notify me by 3/2/2015. \nhttp://www.showcasecinemas.com/theatre/foxboro/ma/showcase-cinema-de-lux-patriot-place \nhttp://www.patriot-place.com

Gifts can be: \n\na humorous joke gift (or not)\nbizarre (or not)\nuseful (or not)\nautomotive (or not)\nTHAT holiday present you received and wondered “what were they thinking… “\n\nParticipation is voluntary – it’s fun to watch even if you’re not participating\, however the more the merrier! Gifts and participation can be per person or per couple. Just remember that to select a gift you must bring one. Most couples opt to have each person bring a gift so each can participate. \nThis year we will be trying a different type of Yankee Swap. It’s known as the \nActuarial Yankee Swap \nHere’s how our Yankee Swap at the holiday party will work: \n1. Each person or couple that brought a wrapped gift gets to draw a number. A second container will have a duplicate set of numbers. \n2. The first number is picked from the duplicate set of numbers and the person holding that number selects and then opens a gift. This person will also have the last opportunity to pick from all the opened and still active gifts. \n3. This person also pulls the next number from the hat. The person holding that number can either choose an unopened gift\, or the already opened gift. \n4. That same person pulls the next number\, and as before\,the person holding that number can either choose an unopened gift\, or an already opened gift. \nHERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING ! \nIF that person chooses an already opened gift\, the person who just lost their gift can either choose any opened gift or open a new one.\nIF they choose an unopened gift\, the turn ends and they pick a new number.\nIF they take a gift from someone else\, the person now without a gift can take a gift from another or choose to open a new gift. This continues until a new gift is opened. \nOne last rule: Each gift can only be touched three times\, then it becomes INACTIVE and can not be exchanged. \nAfter this\, consenting adults are free to swap their present with anyone else. \nSome Yankee Swap etiquette “rules”: \n· people choosing their present are not allowed to fold\, spindle\, mutilate\, or otherwise fondle the presents before choosing one. \n· participants cannot hide their opened presents they want keep (to prevent others from swapping with them)
