DESCRIPTION: Trip is full\, but a wait list is available in case of cancelations. \nMASS MIATA 2021 TSD RALLY \nJoin us on Sunday May 23rd\, 2021 for a bit of European fun. Sign up for our third annual TSD (time\, speed\, distance) rally. It is known in Europe as a “relativity rally”. Individual Miatas will depart from the start point at the Walmart Supercenter\, 1626 Main St. Leicester MA. Cars will depart at 2 minute intervals and follow a predetermined course through designated check points. The rally will consist of 3 stages with the final checkpoint being at Kimball’s Farm\, 1543 Lunenburg Road\, Lancaster\, MA. This year the winners will be the cars that average the MEAN times of the group in each stage\, thus all competitors have an equal chance to “win”. \nTo sign up for the rally Email Janet Baylis at jbaylis89@comcast.net ASAP. There is a modest $5.00 signup fee per car to cover the awards\, and all additional proceeds will be donated to our annual club’s charity donation this season. Rally is limited to the first 20 Miatas signed up. 5 spaces will be reserved for new members until May 14. We don’t want people to be stuck outside in the rain if the office is at capacity. \nIt will be held at Main Street Auto 676 Main Street Clinton\, MA o1510 from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. There will not be any food available on site as we have no way to serve it. There might be an ice cream run after. \nMasks will be required inside the building at all times. Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized before the event and will be available. \nMask will also need to be worn outside and keep to social distance. \nOur staff will provide oil change and inspection services. Four lifts will be available for people that want to work on their cars. (Unfortunately we will not be able to assist anyone with their repairs this year)

Friday dinner is served 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. \nSaturday they will have a cocktail party at 5:30 P.M. and they will have Manhattan’s and Rum Punch with live music and is included in your stay. Dinner is served at 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. After dinner they will have Contra Dancing followed by trivia game. \nThey have an indoor pool\, hot tub and sauna. Barnyard filled with animals (horses\, pigs\, cows\, bunnies\, chicken\, goats and others). They bake homemade bread everyday and is served at dinner. (smells and taste fantastic). \nThey have scheduled activities throughout the day that are included in your stay: \nSample of activities subject to change. Pony Grooming\, trails for hiking\, (one is a short walk down the street and follows a river where the ice freezes over the rock) fantastic views. (if anyone would be interested in this trail\, let me know and we can take you there (worth the walk)\, pat the bunnies\, milking in the barn\, needle felting\, meet at the campfire to make s’mores\, bread making\, candle making\, butter making experience\, ping pong tables\, game room and shuffle board (outside)\, sledding (must use their round saucers) and snowshoeing. \nRates do not include: Horseback riding $50.00 per trail rider\, ice skate rentals $2.00 per day\, massage and reflexology $45-70.00 \nOvernight room rates are per person and price depends on which type of room you book. They offer Basic $150.00 plus 9% NH tax\, Mid-priced $160.00 plus 9% NH Tax\, and Deluxe $172.00 plus 9% NH tax. A deposit of $100.00 for 2 or $50.00 for a single is due at the time of booking your room. Final payment is due at check out. \nBreakfast Saturday and Sunday 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. \nLunch Saturday and Sunday Noon to 1:00 P.M. \nCheck in anytime but they cannot guarantee your room until 3:00 P.M. \nCheck out is at 10:00 A.M. but you will have lunch at noon so after breakfast\, go for a swim\, soak in the hot tub\, go for a walk\, pet the farm animals or hang around and chat. \nOnce you arrived and parked your car\, there is no need to get back into your car until you depart to go home.\nNow for the cancellation policy: \nCancel within 21 days of your arrival date you will get your deposit back minus $25.00 \nIf you should cancel closer to your date of arrival you will lose your deposit but will not have to pay for the weekend. \nThere will be a yankee swap. Bring a wrapped gift between $10 to $15.00 \nIf you bring a gift you will pick a number and choose your gift but you CANNOT OPEN  IT. \nThe yankee swap will have a twist to it.  We will be playing a dice game again this 2021 holiday party. \n  \n  \n  \n

No one knows what will happen next year with COVID 19\, but we need to move forward and plan trips. Let’s all pitch in and plan\, organize and drive a trip next year from April to November. A trip can always be canceled due to COVID restrictions. Instead of canceling a trip due to COVID restrictions\, think about how the trip could be adapted to work around the restrictions. They have been in business for 65 years and are known for there hot dogs. They do not have restrooms and service is CASH ONLY. \nVOLUNTEERS: We will have a Pre-Run on Sunday November 8\, 2020 time TBD. An email will be sent out. Formerly known as the Collings Foundation\, the new American Heritage Museum features one of the largest collections of tanks and military vehicles in the world with the Jacques M. Littlefield Tank and Armor Collection included in the 65\,000+ sq. ft. museum with over 95 tanks\, vehicles\, and artifacts on display. Since opening in May 2019\, the American Museum has been touted as one of the region’s best kept secrets and now is your chance to “invade” the new museum with Miata’s from around the region for an exciting drive-in event. \nThe American Heritage Museum explores America’s conflicts from the Revolutionary War through today through the eyes of those who served. Visitors are immersed within the exhibits through the rare tanks and large artifacts\, dioramas\, video presentations\, and engaging docents that help explain the role of the citizen soldier\, the role of technology\, and American spirit that raises to the cause “When in the course of human events\, it becomes necessary…” \nAmong the staggering variety of rare artifacts\, the American Heritage Museum has many that are the only ones on public display in North America. These include: M1A1 Abrams Tank\, T-34/85 Tank\, Matilda MK.II Tank\, Sherman “Jumbo” Tank\, Russian IS-2\, German Panther\, SCUD Missile and Launcher\, Japanese Type 4 Ho-Ro Tank and many more. We have a 2:00 lunch reservation at the Red Parrot which is a short walk along the waterfront from the visitor center. \n  \n  \nI was only able to make lunch reservations for 30 people. Pack yourself a picnic lunch to bring with you and there is a full-service bar on board with snacks. The cruise is from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. We will stop for ice cream after the cruise.  \nThe Cape Cod Canal\, a man-made National Civil Engineering Landmark\, is the widest sea-level canal (without locks) in the world. Come out with us on a tour and see all the interesting landmarks along the canal. We had shelter 2 last year\, but it is booked for a wedding. There is parking near by and restrooms close to shelter 1. Follow the Mass Miata signs. \nIce cream and swimming at the Trout’s after the picnic. DESCRIPTION:Northfield Drive-In Trip \n \n  \nJoin us for a trip through the backwoods of northern Massachusetts to the historic Northfield Drive-In. The Northfield is celebrating 70 years of showing movies under the stars\, and is listed as one of the 30 best drive-ins in the country. Saturday August 10th is a Retro night – with two classic films showing as a double features being  (Back to the future and the Goonies). \n  \nWe will meet at the Regency Westford at 2:30pm\, for the 70 mile / 2 hour trip to the Northfield Drive-In. We will be going on back roads for the whole trip – there is one brief section (less than a mile) on an unpaved road that will take in 2nd gear. We’ll stop about halfway through the trip for ice cream. The gates at the Northfield will open at 6:30pm. There is a snack bar in the drive-in serving burgers/hot dogs/pizza (and popcorn\, of course)\, or you can bring your own picnic dinner. Folding chairs or a picnic blanket might be a good idea; bug spray is essential! Tickets are $24/car – cash only\, paid at the gate. The movie screening should start about ½ hour after sunset\, or 8:30PM. After the movie(s)\, you can plan a late night return or stay overnight at one of the nearby inexpensive motels. \n  \nThis trip is limited to 12 cars. RSVP by August 7. Morgan whaling ship\, ride a steam boat up the Mystic River\, view the restoration of the Mayflower II\, see an amazing scale model of the seaport as it was in the days of whaling as well as the art gallery and artisan shops of the village.　 In the town of Mystic there is the Jeffrey P’an Glass Works of blown glass creations plus many fine craft\, art and antique shops.　 You can enjoy a cruise on the schooner Argia Mystic or dine in one of the many restaurants (The Engine Room is recommended).　 There’s so much to see and do you may even decide to stay the night. \nWe will be gathering at 8:00 AM in the southeast corner or left front of the Walmart parking lot (as you face the store) at 100 Charlton Rd (Rt. 20) Sturbridge\, MA.　 (Take the Rt. 84 exit off the Mass Pike and follow the signs to Rt. 20 east.　 Walmart is shortly on the left.)　 Drivers meet at 8:15 AM for route directions to Mystic as well as directions for an alternate\, shorter\, faster return route. After lunch we will continue over back roads where we will cross over 6 more covered bridges ending at our last pit stop.
