On day one we will stop at Gillette Castle for a picnic lunch and to enjoy the views of the Connecticut River. \n \nAfter lunch we will take a short ferry ride across the river then travel on down to the town of Essex. We will then board the Essex Steam Train and river boat for an enjoyable 2 ½ hour journey along the river. \n \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \nDinner will follow at Market 37 a riverside restaurant. We will stay the night at the Pier Blue Hotel in Old Saybrook.  \n  \n \nFriday morning breakfast will be directly across the street. We will then take a short drive down to Stoneycreek to board the Sea Mist for a 45 minute narrated tour of the Thimble Islands. A small group of islands with some rather beautiful homes and interesting history. SUMMARY:October 28\, 2023 Saturday Sculpture Hike Trip
DESCRIPTION:Sculpture Hike Trip \n  \nPlease join us for an autumn outing to the Andres Institute of Art for a hike through their outdoor Sculpture Park. \n \nWe will marshal at the Dunks in Lancaster at 10:00 for a 10:15 departure. We then follow a twisty backroads route for our lunch at Chrysanthis\, which features Greek/Italian menu. From there\, it is a very short trip to our final destination. \n  \nFounded in 1998\, the Andres Sculpture Park features about a hundred pieces created by artists from all over the world. The artwork is situated on a number of hiking trails that rise up to the peak of Potanipo Hill. The hike to the top is an elevation change of 300 feet\, which we will take at a leisurely pace to view the artwork along the way. This will require a moderate amount of fitness. There are also shorter trails for those who prefer them\, and a shuttle bus running to the peak. THANKS\, WE HAVE PLENTY OF VOLUNTEERS NOW. \nOur annual MMC club picnic and membership appreciate day will be held at Colt State Park Route 114 1070 Hope Street Bristol\, Rhode Island. Colt State Park has beautiful views and always a nice sea breeze.\nAll are welcomed!\nMass Miata members and their families are invited to attend this annual event\, which was started to show the Club’s appreciation to all our members and to thank everyone for their participation and support. \nWe have shelter 2 which is the large covered facility with parking and restrooms near by. Follow the Mass Miata signs. \nThe club will be providing the entrees of Hamburgers\, Hot Dogs and rolls .  There is no cost to members to attend this event\, however in an effort to control costs\, the club is asking members to provide appetizers\, salads\, desserts\, etc.if you choose to do so.
