The operetta is a parody of the stock melodrama — the villain who carries off the maiden; the priggishly good-mannered poor-but-virtuous-heroine; the hero in disguise\, and his faithful old retainer who dreams of their former glory days; the snake in the grass who claims to be following his heart; the wild\, mad girl; the swagger of fire-eating patriotism; ghosts coming to life to enforce a curse; and so forth. But as one critic noted\, Gilbert turns the moral absolutes of melodrama upside down: Good becomes bad\, bad becomes good\, and heroes take the easy way out. The Baronets of Ruddigore are cursed. Anyone who succeeds to the title has to commit a crime every day — or perish in inconceivable agony. Robin Oakapple\, a young farmer\, loves Rose Maybud\, but both are too shy to tell the other. But Robin has a secret. He is really Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd\, the rightful Baronet of Ruddigore\, in disguise. His younger brother\, Despard\, believing Ruthven to be dead\, has assumed the title. Robin’s foster brother\, Richard\, seeking Rose for himself\, tells Despard of Robin’s deception\, and Robin is forced to accept his true position\, losing Rose to Richard in the process. Now the Baronet of Ruddigore\, Robin is confronted by the ghosts of his ancestors who step from their picture frames in the gallery of Ruddigore Castle to confront him for failing to conscientiously commit his daily crime. One of the spectacles most elaborate exhibits is a replica of Everett Barney’s mansion. Passengers will travel by bus on this 3 mile long meandering path through the park to see the displays. The F1 Arcade is the premier destination for all fans of Formula One motorsport\, and features excellent multi-player full motion racing simulators where you can test your skills against other Club members on the F1 tracks\, along with a bar and restaurant.  \n \n  \nWe will travel independently\, arriving at the F1 Arcade in Boston’s Seaport district around 9:45am. Please note that on a Sunday morning\, there is some chance of free on street parking nearby\, but this is not guaranteed. For those preferring to avoid driving in Boston\, you can also park at your favorite MBTA station and take the T. Doors open at 10am. The cost is $40 per person – this includes admission to the watch party\, and full use of the driving sims. DESCRIPTION: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHad 53 People.\nVOLUNTEERS THAT SIGN UP TO HELP SET UP\,  PLEASE ARRIVE BY 8:30 A.M.\nAppetizers will be served around 10:30 A.M.\nLUNCH should be ready around NOON. \nThere will be a Special Meeting to go over some bylaw changes.\nOur annual MMC club picnic and membership appreciate day will be held at Colt State Park Route 114 1070 Hope Street Bristol\, Rhode Island. Colt State Park has beautiful views and always a nice sea breeze.\nAll are welcomed!\nMass Miata members and their families are invited to attend this annual event\, which was started to show the Club’s appreciation to all our members and to thank everyone for their participation and support.\nWe have shelter 2 which is the large covered facility with parking and restrooms near by. Follow the Mass Miata signs.\nPaul & Sue Trout has invited everyone back to their house to go swimming. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday August 14\, 2024  \nKimball to Kimball Run\n Join us for a mid-week ride to Kimball Farm in Jaffrey VT for lunch and ice cream.\nWe will meet at Kimball Farm\, 1543 Lunenburg Road\, Lancaster MA 01523 at 10:30 AM\, Driver’s meeting at 10:45\, departing at 11:00. They do have coffee and pastries available. Arrive a little early if you would like a snack. They start serving ice cream at 10:00. The café for coffee and pastry opens at 7:00.\nWe will travel some scenic roads in central MA and southern NH for about 1.5 hours arriving at Kimball Farm\, 158 Turnpike Road\, Jaffrey NH 03452 around 12:30. Enjoy lunch\, ice cream\, and the company of your fellow Miata owners.\nWe should be finished by 2 PM allowing plenty of time to get back home before rush hour. There is no planned return trip.\nTrip is limited to 10 cars with 2 spaces being reserved for new members.
