DESCRIPTION: Had 4 people\n\nLocation:\nLincoln-Sudbury Regional High School\n390 Lincoln RD\, Sudbury MA 01776\n$30.00 adult\n$25.00 student/senior\nGoogle Sudbury Savoyards to purchase your tickets\nSynopsis:\nThe Gondoliers revolves around two handsome brothers\, Marco and Giuseppe Palmieri\, who are Venetian gondoliers.  After a playful selection process\, the brothers marry the farm girls\, Gianetta and Tessa. All seems well until the brothers learn that one of them is the rightful heir to the throne of Barataria. They struggle with this new development\, as they despise the idea of ruling a monarchy and prefer the simplicity of their gondolier lives. Another surprise emerges when one of the brothers was wed in infancy to the daughter of the Duke of Plaza-Toro.  The daughter is secretly in love with the servant\, creating a love triangle. In 1812\, he moved his mills north\, to what is currently known as Webster\, Massachusetts. It is all thanks to Samuel Slater for the creation of Webster\, forged from the neighboring towns of Oxford and Dudley\, with the help of his friend\, the famous Senator Daniel Webster. Unfortunately\, most of this history has faded from current memory.\nBy using the water power of Webster Lake and the French River\, Slater was able to create an industrial town centered on cotton and woolen manufacturing. He and his family were central to the growth of Webster into an industrial giant that attracted other businesses to the area. Slater would go on to build the first Sunday School in the area\, across the street from the mill\, for the education of the children who were employed at the mill.

SUMMARY:June 14\, 2026 Gropius House Tour
DESCRIPTION:Meet at:\nDrivers Meet at:\nDeparture Time:\nAs the first director of the Bauhaus\, Gropius was concerned with combining modern technologies with consumer needs\, while placing equal emphasis on architectural integrity and decorative arts.\nGropius and his family came to the United States after a three-year stay in London\, where they had moved to avoid the Nazi regime. Gropius came to Massachusetts to accept a teaching position at Harvard University‘s Graduate School of Design. Fellow architect and prominent Bostonian Henry Shepley convinced philanthropist Helen Storrow to provide land and fund the design and construction of a home for Gropius. Gropius designed the home in 1937; local builder Casper J. Jenney built it in 1938. Gropius used his new home as a showcase for his Harvard students as well as an example of modernist landscape architecture in America. He chose the area because of its proximity to Concord Academy which his daughter Ati was slated to attend. It remained Gropius’s home from 1938 until his death in 1969.\nMarcel Breuer\, a fellow architect and friend of the Gropius family\, came to the United States shortly after the Gropiuses\, also to become part of the Harvard design faculty. Helen Storrow provided a neighboring plot of land to Breuer where he could showcase his design philosophies. Gropius and Breuer assisted one another in the construction of their homes\, completing their dwellings in 1938 and 1939\, respectively. The Gropius House continues to have Breuer furniture on display. The house also contains works by Eero Saarinen\, Joan Miró\, and Herbert Bayer that they gave as gifts to Walter Gropius.
