SUMMARY:Cows\, Brews & Mountain Views is now closed (wait list only)
DESCRIPTION:The trip is now closed. Contact Charly to be put on a wait list in case of a cancelation.\nCome join us on a leisurely ride through central Mass\, around the Wachusett Reservoir and to the top of Mt. Waschusett for the Mt. views (part 1) of our trip. We’ll spend some time at the top of the Mt. taking in the views before we head off on the 2nd part of our journey through back roads and twisty roads\, and rural hi-ways before arriving at my cousin’s farm (Carter Stevens farm) https://www.carterandstevensfarm.com and farm stand\, and farm brewery (Stone Cow Brewery) http://www.stonecowbrewery.com. \n  \nHere we’ll take in Mt. views (part 2)\, have lunch at the Stone Cow Kitchen\, sample the beers\, tour the farm stand\, take a ride on the “Cool Bus” over to a working dairy farm and of course  Ice Cream! After all that\, we’ll depart and head East on a short ½ hour ride where we’ll leave you at Rt I-190 and Rt 140 in Sterling where you can either head North to Leominster/ Rt 2 or South to Worcester/ Rt 290 to return home. \n  \nWe’ll be starting the day at Kimball’s Ice Cream stand in Lancaster\, where they have coffee\, pastry\, and rest rooms. https://goo.gl/maps/GKEoiZwqkpt The driver’s meeting is at 8:45 AM and departure time is 9:00 AM \n  \nAt Mt. Wachusett\, there is a $5 fee to park at the base and/or drive to the top. A lifetime Massachusetts State Park Senior Pass is available to MA residents 62 and older for $10. Details can be be found by clicking this link. This same pass can be used at many other Mass State parks. You can purchase one at the base of the Mt. but if you can get one in advance this would be best as it won’t delay your arrival and time at the top of the Mountain. \n \nWe’ll be arriving at the farm at Noon time and we will be eating right away.  After that there will be plenty of time to tour the various facilities\, sit on the deck and take in the farm and Mt. views\, and ride the “Cool Bus” through the fields to tour  the dairy farm. There will be a fee of $10 for the Bus/Farm tour. You do not have to part-take on this part of the trip if you don’t want. Please let me know while RSVPing. \n  \nAt the Stone Cow Kitchen\, we’ll be per-ordering off of their menu to help them plan and speed up the food orders. The choices are 4 Paninis or 2 Salad options. Please indicate your lunch choices while RSVPing to: Charly.Busky@gmail.com \n  \nIf you don’t pre-order lunch\, you can still order off of the menu when you get there\, but your lunch may take longer. \n  \nPaninis $11 With your choice of a side salad or chips & a pickle. \n1. Stone Cow – Turkey\, Mozzarella\, Local Pesto\, Tomato \n2. BLT – Applewood Smoked Bacon\, Tomato\, Greens\, Herb Mayo\, Cheddar \n3. Farmer’s Daughter – Turkey\, Cheddar\, Caramelized Onions\, Walneut Honey Butter \n4. Hoe Down – Roast Beef\, Cheddar\,  Caramelized Onions\, Horseradish\nSalads $8 Over Local Organic Greens \n1. Farm Veggie – Broccoli\, Peas\, Cucumber\, Radish\, Tomato \n2. Mediterranean – Feta\, Olives\, Salami\, Dolmates\, Roasted Red Peppers \nFun Facts about the farm: \n\nHighest elevation working dairy farm in Massachusetts.\nThe site of the Brewery Barn was a previous hay barn that burned down in massive fire in March 2011. The Brewery barn was rebuilt using timbers from a old barn located else where in Barre that was about to be torn down.\nThe farm fields have been used recently for several Spartan and Savage races where crazy people run through the fields and mud\, climb over obstacles\, rope ladders\, etc.\nThe farm family competed in a TV version of the Spartan race last year\, their team name was “Bet the Farm”. Sadly\, they didn’t move on after that first episode. But still put in a respectable showing as the oldest team there. Including my cousin Erin as the “grand-mother”. https://www.carterandstevensfarm.com/single-post/2016/03/22/Farm-Team-on-Spartan-TV\nThe farm was featured in a Dunkin Donut’s commercial a few years back\, the one where they were using a trebuchet to chunk pumpkins across the field for the Pumpkin Spice Coffee that they were selling. http;//telegram.com/article/20111020/NEWS/110209181 That trebuchet is still on the farm and was used recently in a wedding to toss the bouquet! This is hilarious! https://youtu.be/ssZ026WbdC4
