Trip Report – Miata Club trip for the deCordova Sculpture Garden and Museum on October 17, 2021
Richard and Jeanne Canale
The trip comprised 10 cars and 18 participants, covering 61 miles of great roads, four cars of whom were driven by new members including three first timers and one who was on his second Miata trip.
We had great top-down fall weather, leaves not quite at peak, but with enough falling/fallen leaves and pine needles, and Halloween decorations along the long stretches of narrow and twisty roads to make it even more seasonal and challenging.
Folks had a chance to interact at the Minute Man National Historical Park Visitor Center with a brief guided tour on nearby sites before leaving at 10:05 AM and travelling through local towns’ scenic and twisty roads before picking up sandwiches just before arriving at the Museum at about Noon.
Participants had the opportunity to have lunch outdoors informally together having either brought their own lunches or having the sandwich/salad pickup. We then visited the indoor museum and the Sculpture Gardens as individuals or within occasional small group interactions.
After two hours plus at deCordova, we continued our tour through local towns ending up in West Concord for ice cream.
The GPX files and TomTom Routes for the AM and PM sections of the trip are located in the Member section of the Mass Miata web site for anyone looking for a scenic and narrow and twisty road trip located along and just west beyond Route 128.
Participants’ comments included: “We had an awesome time today! Perfect fall weather, classic roadsters and friends!” “This was our first ride as new members of MassMiata the afternoon ride was spectacular …” “Also, my friend Janet, commented on how welcoming and friendly all of our Miata club members were to her. We had a BLAST and can’t wait for another Miata Club adventure. Great to see all of you, again!”
